This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). It should be read together with our Cookies Policy and our PAIA Policy.

2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to the personal information we collect when you use our website, request a quote, place an order, have us measure or install a shower solution, or otherwise deal with us.
3. The personal information we collect
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:
- Identity and contact information — your name, email address, telephone number, and delivery and billing address.
- Account information — your login details and the preferences saved in your account.
- Order information — the products and services you buy, your order history, and related correspondence.
- Payment information — payment is processed securely by our payment gateway, Peach Payments. We do not store your card details.
- Site, measurement, and installation information — when we quote, measure, or install, our representatives record measurements and take photographs of the installation site (for example, the bathroom or shower area) so that we can quote accurately, manufacture to the correct specification, and install correctly.
- Information you give us — anything you include when you contact us, request a quote, or respond to us.
4. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you — when you use the website, create an account, place an order, request a quote, or communicate with us — and from our representatives during site visits for measurement and installation. We also collect some information automatically through cookies, as explained in our Cookies Policy.
5. Why we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- provide quotes and carry out measurement and installation;
- process and fulfil your orders, including delivery;
- take and process payment;
- manage your account and provide customer support;
- respond to your enquiries and communicate with you about your orders;
- send you direct marketing where you have agreed to receive it (see section 8);
- meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations; and
- run and improve our business and website.
We process your information where it is necessary to perform our contract with you, to comply with the law, for our legitimate business interests, or on the basis of your consent.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where necessary, with:
- Operators who provide services to us, including our online store host (Shopify), our payment gateway (Peach Payments), our delivery aggregator and courier partners, our bookkeeping, accounting, CRM, job-scheduling and other business (ERP) systems, and our IT and email providers;
- Our glass and hardware suppliers, where this is needed to manufacture or supply your order;
- Analytics and advertising providers (such as Google and Meta), as explained in our Cookies Policy; and
- Authorities or advisors, where we are required to share information by law or to protect our legal rights.
We require those who process personal information on our behalf to protect it and to use it only for the purposes we have agreed.
7. Sending information outside South Africa
Some of our service providers — including Shopify, Google, and Meta — store or process information on servers outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred outside the country, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by a comparable level of safeguards, as required by POPIA.
8. Direct marketing
We will only send you electronic marketing, such as promotional emails, where the law allows — either because you are an existing customer and the marketing relates to similar products, or because you have agreed to receive it. Every marketing message will give you a simple way to opt out, and you can tell us at any time that you no longer wish to receive marketing by contacting hello@showerhaus.co.za. We will stop.
9. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, and for as long as the law requires us to — for example, tax and accounting records must be kept for the period set by law. When we no longer need it, we securely delete or destroy it.
10. How we protect your information
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. While no system can be guaranteed completely secure, we work to keep your information safe and to address any security incident appropriately. If a security compromise affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.
11. Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it;
- ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete information where we are no longer entitled to keep it;
- object to the processing of your information in certain circumstances;
- withdraw your consent where we rely on it; and
- complain to the Information Regulator.

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. How we use them, and how you can manage your choices, is explained in our Cookies Policy.
13. Children's information
Our website and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information of children without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we have done so, please contact us and we will address it.
